A
clinical resource nurse is a registered nurse whose responsibilities exceed
that of a normal registered nurse. The main duties of a clinical resource nurse
are to promote and maintain quality patient care, manage nursing operations,
assist in teaching nursing staff and enforce procedures, policies, practices
and standards of the facility. A clinical resource nurse should have excellent
oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, leadership skills
and managerial skills.


With a growing reputation for short wait times, almost all patients in Mt. Ascutney’s ED are seen within 30 minutes or less.

# of beds: 10 ED beds
Typical 24-hour patient census: 8-15 patients, anything more than 12-15 patients/day would be considered “busy”
Patient Population: All ages

  • The ED department works with PAs!
  • The Emergency Nurse must be able to think on your feet and
    prioritize quickly.
  • Must have the flexibility to continually restructure,
    sometimes by the minute your time.
  • Must be able to obtain a health history as well as complete
    an accurate physical assessment and plan for treatment.
  • Critical thinking and sharp decision making are essential
    for this role.
  • Good communication skills are imperative.
  • Must be able to deal with unplanned situations and it is not
    unusual to experience angry and even combative behaviors expressed by patients
    or their families.
  • Attributes for success as an emergency department Nurse are
    compassion, humor, good organizational skills, and being a team player.

Requested time off during the course of this assignment MUST be noted and verified at upload.  RTO REQUESTS AFTER UPLOAD WILL NOT BE APPROVED!!   NO MORE THAN 5 DAYS OF RTO WILL BE ACCEPTED (less is better).  

Traveler must be willing to work TWO of the following: 

Thanksgiving and weekend after
Christmas Eve/Christmas Day and weekend after
New Year Eve/New Year Day and weekend after


Local Travelers – Those who reside within 50 miles of the facility – are not eligible for this need.  

Non-Billable Orientation:  8hrs
Holiday and OT multipliers:  1.25%
Call, Call-Back and Charge:  Not applicable for this need

Requirement description :

  • Minimum 5 years of recent ED experience – Required
  • ALL CERTS MUST BE IN HAND AT PROFILE UPLOAD – FACILITY WILL NOT PEND CERTS
  • Experience in a Critical Access facility – Required
  • CERNER EMR experience – Required
  • Travel experience – Preferred
  • BSN (or higher) – Preferred
  • Traveler must have their own vehicle for this need

  • Work History

  • 1 Supervisory Signed Reference (from within the past two years of employment)
  • License/Certifications – Must be uploaded with profile

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS :

  • ACLS (AHA)
  • PALS (AHA)
  • TNCC
  • BLS (AHA)

STATE LICENSE REQUIREMENTS :

  • Vermont

ADDITIONAL LICENSE REQUIREMENTS :
Weekend Requirements : Every other weekend/Holidays required if needed
