The RPN is responsible for the delivery of comprehensive resident care through the nursing process of: Assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. Nursing activities are performed in accordance with established policies and procedures of Maluhia Hospital, the Code for Nurses, Standards of Nursing Care and the Residents’ bill of Rights. Emphasis is placed on the unique role/function of the RPN III. S/he is responsible for the collection of data used to direct the delivery of nursing services by the subordinate staff. Specifically, s/he is responsible for assessment and evaluation of resident care problems. In addition, s/he must supervise, guide and assist, when necessary, subordinates in their attempts to deliver resident care. S/he must be able to demonstrate/teach them skills required to render acceptable levels of resident care. S/he must also direct/guide resident teaching programs, and activities of ancillary personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing. This person is subject to rotation of shifts and programs as needed to meet the goal of giving quality care to residents.
